In the mid-1960s, Bruno Fabeyer was considered one of Germany’s most wanted criminals. After committing numerous burglaries and killing a police officer, he evaded capture for nearly a year by hiding in forests and marshes.

Dr. Christof Haverkamp, a journalist and historian from Lathen, traces Fabeyer’s life story and contextualizes the case from both historical and criminal perspectives. The story also has ties to the Emsland region: Fabeyer worked in Elbergen for a time and was incarcerated at the Lingen correctional facility.

Afterward, there will be a group tour of the special exhibition “In Search of the Truth: 2,000 Years of Criminal Investigation.”
