There is no set theme for this course; you are free to bring your own ideas—whether figurative or abstract—to life. Artist Christa Baumgärtel will give you the freedom to develop your own themes and bring them to life in clay.
Sculpture offers a wide range of possibilities in terms of both content and form.
For example, nature can serve as a source of inspiration (fruits, seed pods, etc.), as well as forms with an abstract, contrasting character, such as the interplay of geometric and organic shapes.
We welcome any creative ideas.
If you plan to create portraits of animals or people, please bring clear photos, such as profile and side views.
We will be working with clay and sculpting throughout the weekend, which means we won’t be building hollow forms—this allows for changes to be made right up until the very end. (Experienced participants are, of course, welcome to work on hollow forms as well.)
Everyone is welcome to join the class, whether you’re a beginner or an advanced student!
