2,000 Years of Criminal Investigation
Special Exhibition at the Emsland Archaeology Museum
“Please don’t touch anything!”—this line is familiar from many crime movies. But since when has it actually been the rule at a crime scene? In cooperation with the Emsland/Grafschaft Bentheim Police Department, the Emsland Archaeology Museum invites you on a captivating journey through the history of criminal investigations. Set out in search of clues and discover how forensic methods have evolved from antiquity to the present day. In eight different thematic sections, international loans illustrate the influence of technological progress on the successful identification of perpetrators. Historical crime stories from the Emsland region offer exciting insights into the world of the regional criminal investigation department. Discover the surprising connections between investigative work and archaeology, or work alongside the police at interactive stations to investigate right at the crime scene. As a special highlight, a mysterious criminal case runs throughout the exhibition. Now become a detective yourself and piece together the clues. Can you solve this mysterious murder? A diverse supporting program featuring activity days, educational museum workshops for children, as well as movie nights and expert lectures will accompany the exhibition throughout its run.
