Ceramics seminar: Build-up technique with porcelain
Kiho Kang from Bad Ems will be holding the ceramics seminar at the
Meppen art circle. In Seoul
he completed his Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts. He then went on to study at the Institute for Artistic Ceramics and Glass in Koblenz. He has already received many awards for his ceramics in South Korea and Germany. Kiho Kang says about his work: “I work in the bead technique because it gives me creative variety, requires patience and slow, deliberate work. The observer can see the impressed fingerprints on the surface of my work, which I left behind during the construction process. The peculiar surfaces give my works a haptic quality.”
The beading technique is the oldest and most archaic technique for constructing vessels. The tactile quality and lightness of the vessels will be an inspiration for course participants who enjoy hand-building to refine their own work. Not only can you learn the original beading technique, but you can also interweave the fascinating production in the Asian tradition and still achieve a modern style.
