Communication, exchange of experiences, news: District archaeologist Thomas Kassens is available to volunteer metal detectorists at an informal meeting on the last Thursday of every month. Treasure hunting was already a topic in the early Middle Ages. From this time comes the so-called “Schatzregal”, which states that all finds deeper than a plowshare (about 30 cm) belong to the king, today the Federal Republic of Germany. In a relaxed atmosphere, the meetings offer
the opportunity to talk shop and enjoy a cozy get-together. But also all other people interested in archaeology are cordially invited to learn more about archaeology and searching with metal probes or to have their own find determined by an expert.
