Reading: Wiet Land unner de Wulken

with Gesche Gloystein, Christian Quaing and Jan-Bernd Müller

A lyrical encounter between the times, read in High and Low German. Looking back directs our gaze forward. Or: What do homeland poems from the 1950s and 1960s still tell us today? What insights do we draw from this exciting time of new beginnings? The promise of prosperity, the prospect of a better life and the belief in unstoppable technology. But also the destruction of pristine nature and the transformation into a cultivated agricultural area. All of this was also viewed lyrically at the time. Texts and poems from this period will be quoted as part of a reading. These, in turn, bring a view of today, a view of the future:

What are our places of longing? Where has technological change taken us? And what are our hopes for a better life here in 2026? The evening will be hosted by Gesche Gloystein, Christian Quaing and Jan-Bernd Müller.
