The historian Ewald Frie uses the example of his family to tell how the rural farming world of his farming parents came to an end, his siblings followed other lifestyles and the general social change gripped the country. Ewald Frie asked his ten siblings, born between 1944 and 1969, how they experienced this time. His brilliantly written book won the German Non-Fiction Prize 2023 and brings the great upheaval to life with unerring laconicism.
