“ParkLicht” features a course of six light art installations. The works of artists from all over Germany react to their surroundings, enter into dialogue with the park and with the coincidences of weather, atmosphere, time of day and season. The artists accentuate undiscovered places, modify known places, create new spaces. The site is opened up artistically in a new way; new, unexpected aesthetic, intellectual and spatial connections open up.
Sasha Gold (Hamburg) presents her fully mirrored parking light. Christiane Kling (Soest) enchants the Ems-Hase canal with a light mobile, Chris Nägele (Stuttgart) the enchanted park copse with neon objects. The RaumZeitPiraten (Wuppertal/Düsseldorf/Duisburg) project a mushroom of light that slowly takes over the facade of the Meppener Kunstkreis. Jan Philip Scheibe (Hamburg) installs a luminous swan song to the spruces in the center of the park. And Rosmarie Weinlich (Erfurt) decorates the pear tree with light bulbs containing illuminated miniature worlds. The light art parcours is curated by Dirk Raulf (Cologne).
Fairy tale and meditation, metaphor and portent – from September 29 to October 29, the park area at the Koppelschleuse shines in a new light.
The project is supported by the Foundation of Lower Saxony and by the Emsländische Landschaft with funds from the state of Lower Saxony.
Public tours will take place every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. during the exhibition period; meeting point is at the Koppelschleuse Art Center.
