On August 30, the Förderunion für Kunst und Kultur (Fu.K.K.) is taking a trip back to the early days of film art for the first time. In collaboration with the Koppelschleuse cultural network, three short films from the US silent comedy genre by and starring Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton and Stan & Ollie will be presented in the inner courtyard of the Meppener Kunstkreis.
As in the days when these films were made, live accompaniment by concert pianist Johannes Cernota and foley artist Simone Nowicki ensures an atmospherically dense cinematic and sound experience. Afterwards, the sound artists look forward to an exchange with the audience in a moderated discussion. There they give an insight into their working methods and sound production in early film.
In further editions of the newly established event series, the association would like to trace iconic, but also “underexposed” creators and works of film history.
Film scholar Ann-Christin Eikenbusch will introduce the film and moderate the discussion with the audience.
Supported by the Emsländische Landschaft.
