Spectacular criminal cases in the region.
In cooperation with the Emsland/Bentheim police department, the Emsland Archaeology Museum is presenting the special exhibition “Crime Scene Emsland – Gangsters, Crooks and Gendarmes”. The exhibition naturally includes a very famous historical “cold case” – the “Red Franz File”, probably the oldest unsolved murder case in Emsland. In addition to the famous bog body from Meppen-Versen, other spectacular criminal cases in Emsland, both historical and modern crimes and how they were solved, are of course also on display. Visitors are welcomed by well-known state philosophers whose theories on society, power and forms of rule form the basis for the modern constitutional state with its law enforcement agencies. From there, guests are taken directly to a crime scene! Anyone who wants to get involved can now start investigating themselves, just like the criminal investigation department does, and set off in search of the culprit in an imaginary murder case. In their search for the culprit, visitors to the exhibition will learn exciting and interesting facts not only about the history of criminalistics, but also about the development of the police force and investigative methods through to the work of the justice system, which is responsible for punishing crimes and imprisoning the bad guys.
