The “art” of baking bread is almost as old as mankind itself. Crispy bread from a clay oven has been known since the Neolithic Age. We want to recreate such a domed oven at the museum in Originagröße. Baking ovens like this are currently very popular as “pizza ovens”, but modern building materials are not used here. The clay oven at the museum will be built using materials that existed over 5,000 years ago, namely willow rods and a sticky mixture of clay, sand and dung. At the end of the event, there will be a hearty campfire and stick bread. The oven cannot yet be put into operation, as the thick layer of clay needs a few weeks to dry.
