With over 160 works by 60 artists, the exhibition center Gut Altenkamp presents or presented a multifaceted insight into the art landscape and regional history of the Emsland until August 2024. The exhibition is the result of an intensive search for artistic traces that poses the question: Who was artistically active in Emsland, when and how? Through intensive research in museums, archives and with the help of committed citizens who responded to an appeal in the press, it was possible to gather a wealth of material on the artists of this period. A particular aim of the exhibition is to present not only the artists who have made a lasting name for themselves in the region, but also the many talents whose work has almost been forgotten for various reasons. “Art in Emsland – A journey through time from 1866 to 1973” invites you to immerse yourself in the fascinating world of regional art history and discover the diverse artistic perspectives on Emsland. After Aschendorf, the Meppen City Museum is the second stop for the exhibition, which will be shown here once again from November 2024 to April 2025. A rich artistic and creative program of events will accompany the show from spring 2025.
