The lecture traces the transformation of the police from an institution of the early Weimar Republic into an instrument of persecution and terror under National Socialism. She places particular emphasis on the history of the Emsland camps. The Esterwegen Memorial is currently hosting the exhibition \u201cOrder and Extermination,\u201d which examines persecution, deportations, police crimes during the war, and the involvement of police officials in the Holocaust.
