And if so, why do we need one?<br \/>\nQuestions about Low German literature from the 19th century to the present day <\/p>\n<p>German literature is packed with outstanding works and authors such as Goethe, Schiller, Kafka, Mann and Grass. Everyone is probably familiar with texts by authors from the German-language canon. But what about Low German literature? Who comes to mind spontaneously? And what meaning and function does a canon actually have? Doreen Brandt explores these questions in an exciting lecture and invites the audience to join in the discussion afterwards. Doreen Brandt is a junior professor of Low German literature from a historical and cultural studies perspective. Together with Prof. Dr. J\u00f6rg Peters, she heads the &#8220;Low German and Sater Frisian&#8221; department at the Institute of German Studies at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg       <\/p>\n<p>Venue: Stadtmuseum Meppen, An d.
