In this two-day course, participants will learn about landscape painting “en plein air” in oil under the guidance of Frankfurt-based illustrator and author Yo Rühmer. “En plein air” is French and means “in the open air”. In open-air painting, the natural colors of the landscape and the natural light and shadow conditions flow into the works. Course participants will receive an introduction to the beginner-friendly painting technique of Allaprima painting – from the choice of motif to the composition of the picture and the materials required. Previous experience with oil paints is helpful, but not a must. Colors and painting materials can be provided. A list of the materials required can be found on the artist’s website at https://yoruehmer.de/ pleinair-ausruestung/. Please remember to bring weatherproof (painting) clothing, sturdy shoes, sun or rain protection and something to eat and drink. The course location will be announced. An alternative in case of very bad weather will be offered. Places are limited. Director: Yo Rühmer
