This workshop will focus on the application of lithography as one of the important flat printing processes in the artistic field. For the printing block we will not print from the stone (lithos), but we will prepare photocopies on paper and special foil, which have water-friendly and water-unfriendly parts, as a printing matrix and transfer them to the ceramic. User-friendly linseed oil is used as the printing ink, so that work steps that are hazardous to health, such as etching the conventional printing block, are no longer necessary. This process allows good results with regard to the fineness of details and is easier to handle than screen printing due to the elimination of photochemical screen production. The images are transferred to the leather-hard ceramic.
In the field of ceramics, we can emboss and apply color in plastic material with one and the same die. In the process, we will make stamps from different materials such as practicing cutting in rubber. Special notes are given on the various printing inks and the applications for the different states of the clay (moist, leather-hard, bisque, glazed).
As a special printing process, this workshop will introduce simple transfer methods of the ink of a photocopy.
